Volunteer with us

Want to volunteer in your local community? Volunteering with us is flexible and fun, our projects are long term and one off events so there is something for everyone.

Details of all of our projects are on the website, but we are currently looking for the following specific roles for someone interested in our values and goals.

Our cafe leader is looking for someone to help cover his role and also help build the cafe even more, as restrictions lessen.

How much time would you have to give?

3 hours on a Tuesday (Monday night organisational takes aprox 15mins) when the main lead is away.

What is the role?

To lead on the set up of the community centre in preperation for the cafe, putting out table and chairs, setting up the coffee machine (there will be others to help you).

To serve customers tea/coffee or juice in line with covid-19 regulations (training will be given).

To manage the other volunteers on the day.

To lead the clear down on the cafe with your fellow volunteers.

The cafe is donation only and we aim to engage with the community when they visit, it's purpose is to have a space for young and old to mix, to build community llinks and make new friends. There are sometimes mini events, like bring a craft, and at the moment we also have the community pantry for foodsharing.

Our fantastic Scarecrow competition is held annually, orginally concieved in lockdown to allow bubbles to walk around the village it has taken on it's own special place within the villages. It is incredibly well supported and the lead would have ample support from the committee to assist you with the running.

This year's event is scheduled for the Jubilee weekend and will hopefully be a part of the wider range of events currently being planned.

How much time would you have to give?

The event run up is the most time consuming and is dependent on entry level, the committee would support you over this period. The period of the middle of May until event day would require daily input.

What is the role?

To manage the enteries via google forms, reply to the entrants and collate this information into a map (full training will be given)

To manage other volunteers to deliver the numbers to the entrants

To help with marketing before the event, and manage other volunteers when doing this (this is mainly deliverying posters and managing the press release)

Managing volunteers to take photos of the entries and to keep in contact with the entrants (there tends to always be a couple who pull out, need extra help to join in, or join late)

The social media aspect can be run by the committee or if you have a particular skill set in this area then that would be fantastic. If the committee have decided to have prizes this year, then an element of helping to secure these might be required.
